Head of Sustainability, APAC #AJW

Job Responsibilities:

• Set the regional sustainability agenda for the business and translate business needs into sustainability strategies and concrete organizational, team and individual development actions. Responsibility for delivery and milestones of ESG goals (Stop the Waste, Close the Loop, Protect the Climate) for the region
• Responsible for the development of new business models and growth strategies that monetize plastics waste recycling streams across Asia Pacific, including mechanical and chemical recycling platform
• Scout and identify suitable partners in the space not limited to mechanical recyclers, advanced recycling tech companies, bio-feedstock companies which could also be potential future investment opportunities for the company

• Liaise with regional P&SP JV companies by working closely with the respective PD and VCTs and MMTs to build business case for the production, execution and implementation of product and marketing strategy
• Serve as the key advisor to the CVP on sustainability issues and driving cross functional collaboration
• Communicate a clear and inspiring vision for the business and report to senior management on the progress and state of the regional sustainability programs. Provide sustainability consulting expertise to key and priority customers and equipping organization for business transformation.
• Work with regional product director to define and meet annual profit plan targets (volume, revenue, margin) of plastic circularity and bio-based business

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Geology, Environmental Science, marketing and other business field; MBA or other advanced degree desirable.
• 8+ years of related industry experience is required
• Industry experience in Packaging or Plastics is preferred
• In-depth knowledge and understanding of industry supply/demand balances
• Experience working with trade associations, NGOs, and value chain members is preferred
• Experience in one or more of the following: customer or industry facing roles including but not limited to sustainability, advocacy, public policy, sales, marketing, technical service, and/or value chain initiatives is required
• Strong interpersonal skills are critical to developing relationships across the value chain and throughout industry organizations and collaborating effectively both externally and internally
• Negotiation skills and experience
• Ability to identify and drive business opportunities to deliver business results
• Ability to work independently and be strategic in thinking in ambiguous situations
