The PMO Manager is part of the APAC Strategic Management Office. It leads the Portfolio and Program Manager area, encompassing Portfolio Management, Program Management and Project Management. It is also responsible for supporting the SMO to align business the portfolio of project activity and business change to align with the strategic direction and facilitating good business decision making through portfolio management methods and routines.
This role will oversee the throughput of projects using portfolio management, program management and project management disciplines and is responsible to define, implement and continuously improve those methods across the region. This includes the management of the intake of new project requests, the preparation of evaluation-ready project proposals, and the handoff of approved project initiation documents to project managers. The PMO manager will forecast and track the availability of people and financial resources to do project work throughout the project life cycle. This includes publishing monthly and annual portfolio reporting based on information collected from the project teams, and you will oversee the closure of projects with follow-up reporting. The consistent flow of current, accurate, and usable information from the steering committee to the PMO and project managers and vice versa is key to success. The PMO Manager will facilitate establish and facilitate a Portfolio steering committee that concerns itself with oversight of projects activity (active, pending, frozen, and recently completed). The steering committee also requires a perpetually current and usable forecast of resource capacity. The PMO Manager will manage the company’s project and portfolio information technology systems.
From time to time, the PMO may be required to identify projects that should be frozen or canceled based on criteria set forth by the leadership and/or industry best practices.
